8 of the Best Exterior Paint Colors

Pinterest Pins- Exterior Paint Colors

Selecting exterior paint colors is very exciting because it means your home is almost done. This is the first impression your home makes to future guests, it's a huge part of your home's curb appeal, and it sets your home apart from it's surroundings (or makes it blend in, depending on your goals).

Below I've gathered up some of my favorite projects to hopefully inspire you when you're making your paint selections and to prepare you for this big decision, remember the following tips.

1- Test a few samples on your house so you can see it in sunlight (and all other lighting conditions, as well)

2- Never choose a color based on a small swatch or judge a color based on indoor lighting conditions

3- Use the context of your home for inspiration, such as the color palette of your neighborhood or natural surroundings, like a creek or forest

This exterior puts a spin on the modern farmhouse by using a darker trim as opposed to the all white exterior. If you like the idea of a white house, but aren't sure how it'll look with white windows, these color choices are a nice alternative. This color palette is soft and inviting, especially with the wood accents.

The body color is Benjamin Moore BM960 Dove Wing and the trim color is Sherwin Williams SW7641 Colonnade Gray.

The dark trim adds interest and makes this small house pop, giving it major curb appeal.

The gray trim is Sherwin Williams SW7669 Summit Gray and the siding color is Sherwin Williams SW7043 Worldly Gray.

For a modern home, it's time to go bold!

Use Sherwin Williams SW7048 Urbane Bronze with a dark trim in Sherwin Williams SW6258 Tricorn Black to make a statement. The accent color around the front door in Benjamin Moore BM960 Dove Wing.

This exterior was inspired by the modern farmhouse with the black windows and wood accents on the front porch and garage door.

However, Sherwin Williams SW7631 City Loft, came through with a soft white exterior without looking to bright.

Unlike the last house, this exterior uses a few colors in the gray family for a calm and muted color palette.

The brick is painted Sherwin Williams SW7030 Anew Gray, the trim is meant to match the windows, so it's Sherwin Williams SW7659 Gris, and finally the siding color is Sherwin Williams SW7015 Repose Gray.
